Two ex-student whom Miss Chia had taught them before was invited to talk to us.

He is now Sec 3 and he had scored 254 for his PSLE.It was amazing as he was a 6B student and was an average student. If he can score such a high marks, so can I? Anyway, he hates Chinese but I am quite inspired by his presentation.

a)He had taught us about study group.

*Good management is very important.

*Appropriate studying methods

*Only engage in group discussion

*Behave and discipline are the keys

Study group should help us to understand more about the topics.For Science, we could use concept map. Like what he had said, we could take turns and write something on it. We should not waste too much time talking and playing.

b)Studies management

To him, homework must be before revision.Homework can be a revision also as you can treat it like a test.

*Plan your time for your homework.Prevent yourself from wasting time thinking about what to do next.

*Proper revision so that time will not be wasted.

I am shocked that although he hates Chinese, he can score so high.It was unbelievable!Maybe he study hard when PSLE is round the corner.

c)I have learnt a quote from him:
*I have not failed , I have found 10 000 ways that do not work.
This quote had told me that I have not failed for the examination, I found 10 000 ways to fail. This could help us to do better next time as we should not repeat the style of studying again. We know that it will fail us in the exam. One day, we may find the best way to pass it.

d)Tuition
To him,tuition is a waste of money and a waste of time. He said to us that we pay people money just to give us homework and repeat the same topic. Actually, he had a good time management and he is very consistent in his work so he does not need any tuition. To me, I need tuition as I am not consistent and tuition can teach me more about the topic. Example for maths, I need tuition to practice more and do some challenging question to get better marks. Different people have different view and opinion about it.

He is now in JC and had scored 258 for PSLE. It is very hard for me to get such high marks and he was an A student. He get A* for two subject and A for two subject. He is different from Bryan as he likes Chinese. Me too. He had an knowledge in quotation and he uses transformers as a metaphor. I am inspired by his quotes.

In order for us to do better in Chinese or English, we must read more, speak more and write more.

a)Run in such a WAY as to get the prize.
Run as fast as you can to get the prize. The prize should be your dream and a dream requires determination. Try your best to run towards your dream and dream big for yourself.

b)Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.
Each and everyone who competes in the games must go into very strict training to get the prize and to achieve their dreams. Strict training is about knowing the parts that you want to use so you can be more confident. Use all the strategy that you have learnt. It is like fighting a war in exam and you must put in all your effort to survive. You must practice everyday and training must be regular. Practice makes perfect.

c)Think global act local
Think before you act. Although you must dream big, you should not be too proud after achieving it. Leave no doubts hanging.

d)"Ask and be a fool for a minute, never ask and be a fool forever."
If you have questions to ask just ask, don't keep quiet as you will waste time just listening to what you do not know. This will also waste your time just to revise again and again without learning anything at all. Don't be too proud and thought that you know everything. Ask and you will know what you know and know what you do not know. If you want to ask, ask constructive question but not silly question.

e)The only constant is change
Like I said, do not repeat the same method that you know will not work. Change the way of studying so it will help you to improve and understand the topic better. Example Science, don't read the whole book before the exam at the last minute as it will make you confused, just read those you do not know and draw a concept map to make a summary.

f)No sacrifice, No victory
If you did not sacrifice your time, how can you get good marks. Although you dream big, you did not sacrifice anything, you will not be able to get it. So sacrifice. Don't do nothing about it but put in all your heart and soul.

g)Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly, I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave.
I should not just do anything blindly but try my best.MC was right as we must discipline ourself and not let our desires and temptation control us.

h)I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith
At the end of it, get what you dream and say this to yourself. If you did not get what you dream, try harder as there are still many chances waiting for us.

We should pay attention in class as this will mark the difference in A students and average students. We must also be consistent and regular. Take honourship in all your work as nobody will push you. Your parents will not always be with you. Hard working Vs Studying smart. Think about it and guess which one will win the war.
